ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Brittane'
WHERE I COME FROM
I grew up as a small town girl from the southeast part of the state, in Idabel, OK. It was there that I learned how to be a servant leader. As a preachers kid, serving your community means living out your faith in a way that is both visible and impactful. To me, it means using your unique position to be a positive role model while helping others and making a difference. I am a mother of 3 beautiful children- Kennidee (16), Kevin (13), and Karter(8). I strive to serve as their consistent role model as we serve the community we live, work, and play in.
A THRIVING CAREER
I currently serve as an Economic Developer, specializing in workforce development, for The Oklahoma Department of Commerce, which is a continuum in my professional business impact. Prior to my current position, I was the Manager of Talent and Business Growth for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. The scope of my professional involvement and leadership reaches all over the state of Oklahoma and its communities. I also lead my own economic development consulting firm, 5 East Consulting, which leverages the power of markets and business enterprise models to create jobs, fuel income growth, and improve the quality of life in rural and underserved communities.
My recognized contributions include being awarded the NextGen 30 Under 30 award and nominated for the Journal Record- Achievers under 40 awards, in which both awards recognize the young leaders in Oklahoma who are blazing trails and making a difference in their communities. In addition to my assistance with professional development, I have personally mentored and guided numerous individuals as they enter business.
My community work includes being the President of the Wellness Initiative a non-profit organization that serves the underserved communities in Oklahoma City; I've served as an active member of the Leadership Council for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, a member of the young professional’s group-“Catalyst”, which supports the community through Allied Arts. I've served on the annual “Build My Future” committee, member of the National Association of Home Builders-Professional Women in Building, and actively serving on the African American Alumni Board for the University of Central Oklahoma.
